How to Check the Similarity Index of Your Work on Sakai

Steps for Joining RCOMM 100 and Using Turnitin for Plagiarism Check

Log in to Sakai using your Staff/Student ID and the password and join the RCOMM 100 site if you are not already part of the RCOMM site. Check the image and follow the steps  below:

1. Make sure you are on the home tab after you have logged in

2. Select the membership tool

3. Select the Joinable Sites tab on the landing page of the 

4. Click the Join Now besides the RCOMM 100 1 S1 2223 worksite name

 

Submitting files on the RCOMM Site

After going through these steps, RCOMM becomes part of your course sites, and it will either be listed in the site navigation area (blue banner on top with white tabs) or it can be found in your site drawer. Follow the steps below to go to the RCOMM site.

5. Select the site drawer (grid icon) at the top right beside your profile picture

6. Click on the RCOMM 100 1 S1 2223 site tab to visit the RCOMM course site.

Submitting a file for Plagiarism Check

On the course site, click on the Assignment Tool and follow the steps below to submit a paper to Turnitin.

7. Click on the Assignments tool

8. Click on the topmost Assignment Title (Plagiarism Checker 1st to 15th March in this case)

9. Click on the Choose File button to attach the file you want to submit to Turnitin. This opens a dialog box where you navigate to where the file is saved and select to attach. 

10. Click on Proceed to go to the next page of the submission and click on Submit button to send it to Turnitin for plagiarism check. 

 

Retrieving the Report

Wait for at least 30 minutes before checking for the report. In checking the report, you must go back to the Assignment Tool, and click on the assignment title (the topmost assignment title) you submitted your work in to open the assignment.

When the report is in, there is a coloured flag icon with the similarity index written beside it as seen in the image. 

11. Click on the small coloured flag icon to access the Turnitin report.
